Our aim is to reduce alcohol-related violence, sexual assault, anti-social behavior and youth binge drinking by engaging the Byron community to take effective action to tackle a serious social crisis.
Last Drinks in Byron is an independent, resident-driven community project aimed at reducing alcohol related violence in the Byron Shire and especially Byron Bay.
The group formed to initiate effective action to deal with this preventable problem that is hurting our young people and our community. As parents, residents and members of this community we are aiming to give locals a real voice in decisions applying to alcohol licensing, supply and availability.
We have come together from different backgrounds – doctors, nurses, emergency services workers, realtors, lawyers, business people, parents, community service workers – with a shared commitment to tackle the problem.
Our common goal is to work towards a safe, happy and prosperous community where the problem of alcohol-related violence and other related harms are effectively resolved.
